Advocacy for the Arts, Statewide recognition for our school, Seeing CA legislation in action, Being honored by the LT. Governor's Office, Speaking with legislators on behalf of our Theatre students and teachers, Capitol visits, Careers for which Theatre is honored, 21st Century Skills at Work,Common Core Standards in action, Project Based Experience, Student Accountability, Reflective Inquiry, Workshops led by Sacramento Theatre Company professionals.
• Scholarships available through CETA, DTASC and CA
• 2012 CYIT co-sponsored by Kevin Spacey Foundation
Each school receives a certificate stating, “ CA EXCELLENCE IN THEATRE.” Each performing student receives a CETA Theatre certificate. Opening ceremony at the Capitol, meeting with legislators, workshops, souvenir program, and performances are included.
If you and your students would like to participate in this event, please submit a registration form. If you would also like to perform at the event, we ask that you meet one of the following criteria:
College students are eligible to perform if their performance piece has
received an award at the
Most recent
High school students are eligible to perform if, at the most recent event, their performance piece
- Received an award at any theatre festival in the state of California during the present academic year
- Advanced to the Finals Round at the Bob Smart Festival, Sacramento
- Advanced to the Finals Round at the CSULB Festival
- Advanced to the Finals Round at the Fullerton College High School Festival
- Advanced to the Semifinals Round at the DTASC Festivals
- Advanced to the Semifinals Round of the English Speaking Union Shakespeare Competition
- Advanced to the Semifinals Round at the Globe Honors, San Diego
Or if they
- Auditioned successfully for the CA State Thespians CYIT Auditions
- Passed the Trinity School of Drama America, LAMDA examinations
- Performed with the Bakersfield College Kern Shakespeare Festival
- Qualified for a British Arts Award
Or if they have been chosen to
- Represent ComedySportz LA, San Jose, Sacramento
- Represent Camp Bravo
**Or you can have a competition at your school with the prize being the opportunity to perform at CYIT. Designate winner/s THE MOSTOUTSTANDING__________________
Middle school students are eligible to perform if their performance
piece has received an award at the most recent
- CETA Northern Middle School Festival
- DTASC festivals
**If you are not able to take your students to a festival, please ensure the selected piece is well rehearsed
Elementary school students may perform with a well-rehearsed performance piece, if the teacher sponsors the student/s.
Registration will be on the web by December, 2012
